Tips for improving employee wellbeing

The key to any happy workforce is content staff who enjoy their jobs, and making sure your staff are well looked after is an important part of any conscientious business.

One of the most important things you can do if you run a business is to support your staff. And a great employee assistance program (EAP) can help both you and your employees to cope with anything that may negatively impact the productivity of your organisation. 

Using a top-notch HR software system, you can schedule times to talk to your staff and, if necessary, organise assessments, coaching or even counselling, to assist a member of the team who may be struggling with personal issues.

As the overall cost of living continues to increase across the UK, both you and your employees are no doubt starting to feel the pinch. And of course, not all businesses are in the position to simply increase wages to cover the rising costs of goods and services. However, there are many ways in which you can support your employees during this time. 

A little extra generosity when it comes to food, drink and, if possible, travel will go a long way to helping your personnel tackle increased costs, as well as more flexible working hours, if this is viable for your business.

With the price of buses, trains and petrol on the up with each passing year, saving money on travel is the perfect way to help your employees to feel better and have a little extra spending money. Improved flexibility and work from home

When it comes to wellbeing, giving your employees more flexibility to do their jobs is beneficial for everybody involved. Perhaps one of your staff has just become a parent. Or maybe they’re struggling with the price of their train fare. Or it might simply be a case of a staff member feeling more comfortable at home. Whatever the reason, if you’re in a position to offer work-from-home or hybrid office hours, your staff will be grateful for a more flexible working day.

We all like to know we’re doing our best. So why not make sure your employees are getting the most out of their skills? Meeting training needs is a fantastic way to motivate staff and look after your business. And letting your team take time to learn a new skill, or improve on an existing one, will nourish their minds and wellbeing. 

We all enjoy learning something new, and with a great course or workshop, your staff can engage their brains and do something outside of their normal working hours. Plus, training courses can also encourage bonding within a team.
